Two arrested on drug-related offences in crime prevention operations

KUCHING: Two local men were arrested on drug-related offences during integrated crime prevention operations conducted by the district police on Feb 19 and 20.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operations was carried out from 10 pm to 2 am within the Tabuan Jaya and Sekama police station jurisdictions.

He said one suspect was arrested under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while another was detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

A total of five senior officers and 28 personnel from various divisions and police stations under IPD Kuching were involved in the operation.

During the exercise, police inspected 67 individuals and 44 vehicles.

Alexson said the integrated crime prevention operations were carried out as a proactive measure to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety.

He added the operations involved crime prevention patrols, efforts to prevent street gangsterism, and monitoring of identified crime hotspots.
