KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy calls at Demak Jaya yesterday.

The visitors were from Universiti Teknologi Sarawak led by the Chairman of University Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), Dr Annuar Rapa’ee and the organising committee for the official opening of the Borneo Cultural Museum led by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

UTS briefed Taib who is the Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Sarawak on the programme of the 6th UTS convocation during the courtesy call and invited him to attend the ceremony which will take place on March 5 and March 6 at a leading hotel in Sibu.

A total of 386 graduates will receive doctor of philosophy degrees, master’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees at the ceremony.

The second courtesy call was to inform and invite Taib Mahmud to complete the opening ceremony of the Borneo Cultural Museum (BCM) which will take place on March 4.
