KUCHING: The Unit Komunikasi dan Awam Sarawak (UKAS) will host a two-day 2026 Sarawak Budget Conference from Dec 16 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching( BCCK).

The upcoming programme aims to provide an essential platform for discussion on Sarawak’s fiscal priorities, economic direction and long-term development goals in line with the State’s strategic aspirations.

Themed “Empowering People, Advancing Prosperity, Building A Resilient Future,” the conference is positioned to highlight inclusive growth, economic transformation and policies that strengthen resilience under Sarawak’s development agenda and the national Madani economic framework.

The event is organised in collaboration with Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (SCOPE), Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service and SALIHIN Academy with participation expected from government leaders, experts and industry stakeholders.

“This conference reflects Sarawak’s commitment towards strengthening economic governance and accelerating sustainable development through informed policy discussions and strategic engagements,” SCOPE said in a press statement on Monday (Dec 8).

It said the programme would enable greater alignment between stakeholders while addressing present and emerging economic concerns impacting the state’s fiscal planning.

“A key highlight of the event will be “A Moment with the Premier of Sarawak,” who is scheduled to outline aspirations, priorities and fiscal focus areas for the Sarawak Budget 2026 as the state continues to strengthen its financial resilience.

“Discussions on the first day are expected to cover Sarawak’s fiscal outlook, alignment with national policies, transition towards a green economy under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and insights from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance II.

“The second day will examine e-invoicing and SST revision, Malaysia’s taxation direction, MSME digital adoption and strategies to enhance trade readiness amid global uncertainty including geopolitical tensions and shifting economic dynamics,”it said.

Another session with the Premier will further outline aspirations linked to the Sarawak Budget and the state’s development agenda.

Participants will also witness the launch of the Doing Business in Sarawak publication featuring investment opportunities and Sarawak’s evolving economic ecosystem.

Registration for the conference is now open and the first 300 participants stand a chance to win exclusive Air Borneo flight tickets. For enquiries, contact SCOPE at 082-231230 or email husna@scope.net.my.
