KUCHING: Fifty-three individuals of various nationalities were rounded up in a series of early-morning enforcement operations conducted over two days across the district.
The raids, mounted by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division from Jan 13 to 14, focused on industrial, construction and residential areas believed to be harbouring immigration offenders.
Enforcement teams moved in on several houses in agricultural areas near Kampung Trombol, factories in Demak industrial zone, and workers’ quarters at a construction site along Jalan Arang.
All those detained are suspected of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
They were later taken to the Immigration Office for further investigation, with follow-up action to be taken in accordance with the law.
