SELANGAU: Two locals were killed while another was injured after their pick-up truck skidded off the road and crashed into a ditch along Sibu-Bintulu stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway yesterday (Apr 28).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Tatau and Selangau stations were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call at 6.39 pm.

Upon arrival, the team found two victims trapped beneath the overturned vehicle and extrication works were promptly carried out.

Both victims, identified as 37-year-old Rolland Atok Eleh and 60-year-old Bayan Tubak, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Their bodies were later handed over to the police for further action.

Meanwhile, the third victim, a 35-year-old man, managed to exit the vehicle on his own and was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

Firefighters also conducted flushing works at the scene to ensure the area was safe before concluding the operation.
