KUCHING: Two local men were injured in separate accidents in Bau and Tatau this morning, with both requiring rescue by firefighters after becoming trapped in their vehicles.

The first accident occurred at around 4.10am in Bau when a 54-year-old man was injured after the car he was driving skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch near Kampung Keranji.

Firefighters from Kota Sentosa station extricated the trapped victim using rescue equipment before administering initial treatment at the scene.

The rescue operation ended at 4.55am.

About three hours later, another man was injured after the van he was driving swerved off the road and crashed to the roadside along Jalan Sebarai, Tatau-Bintulu, at around 7.10am.

Firefighters from Tatau station rescued the trapped victim before placing him on a stretcher and handing him over to paramedics for treatment.

The rescue operation ended at 7.50am.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for further medical attention. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
