MIRI: Two people lost their lives in separate road accidents yesterday (Dec 8).

Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that investigations are ongoing into both incidents, which are being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The first accident occurred around 4.30 pm.

A 31-year-old motorcyclist, traveling from Bintulu to Miri, was killed after a collision with a Proton Iswara.
According to police, the Proton Iswara, driven by a 50-year-old man, was making a U-turn when the accident happened.

The motorcyclist sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at Miri Hospital at 8.50 pm.
The second fatal incident occurred an hour later, at approximately 5.30 pm, along Jalan Miri-Bintulu.

A 41-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Proton Persona.

Police investigations revealed that the 52-year-old driver of the Proton Persona saw the pedestrian crossing the road but was unable to avoid the collision.

The pedestrian suffered fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver escaped unhurt.
