MUKAH: Narcotics police have arrested two foreign men suspected to be syabu pushers at Jalan Boulevard Setiaraja, here yesterday (June 7).

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspects, aged 38 and 54, were taken into custody around 8 pm following a public tip-off and gathered intelligence.

Further inspections found that one of them was carrying three plastic packets of crystalline substances believed to be syabu, while the other had a packet on him as well.

“The suspected drugs weighed about 10.30g and are worth around RM1,150 on the street.

“Both the suspects, who are employed at an oil palm plantation, along with the drugs were taken to the district police headquarters for further actions,” he said.

Police believe the duo, who tested negative for drugs, had been quietly distributing drugs in and around Mukah — a role often referred to as ‘pushers’ in the drug trade.

Rizal added that both men are remanded until June 12 to facilitate investigations under Section 39A(1) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities directly to the Mukah police at 084-871222.
