LUNDU: Firefighters are battling a forest fire that has burned through an estimated two hectares of the Samunsam Forest Reserve here today.
The blaze was detected through drone surveillance, with firefighters from Lundu station deployed to the scene, about 40 kilometres away, following a distress call at 2:40 pm.
It was understood that emergency responders were facing several challenges, including the roughly one-kilometre trek from the main road to the affected area, the absence of a water source nearby and the hilly terrain.
