BINTULU: Police arrested two local men suspected of theft during ‘Op Lusuh’ at Batu Lima along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu on Wednesday (Mar 25).

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the arrest was made at about 1.30pm behind a food premises by a team from the district Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspects, aged 49 and 55, are from Sibu.

“Initial investigations found that the suspects admitted to stealing drain covers and water tanks before selling them at a scrap yard,” he said.

Police also seized a Toyota van along with several items, including sales receipts and drain covers.

One of the suspects has previous criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
