KUCHING: Two homes were destroyed by fires in separate incidents at Kampung Semariang Batu and Batu Kawa on Sunday night.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
In the first incident, the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was alerted about the fire at 7.28 pm at Jalan Chong Jin Chong, Batu Kawa.
Firefighters from Batu Lintang rushed to the scene.
“The fire involved an unoccupied, semi-permanent two-storey house with an estimated size of 30×40 square feet, which was completely destroyed,” said the department in statement today.
Meanwhile, in another incident, the Petra Jaya and Tabuan Jaya Bomba received an emergency call at 6.55 pm.
The fire occurred at Kampung Semariang Batu.
“By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the house had already been razed to the ground. However, no lives were in danger,” said the statement.
The cause of both fires and the extent of property losses are still under investigation.
