Two hurt in 4WD vehicle crash

MIRI:  Eleven firemen from Lopeng Fire Station here led by Nasir Razali were dispatched to an accident scene near a junction heading towards Marudi on Friday following a distress call received at 10.27pm.

One victim was trapped inside a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle while another was rescued by passers-by.

Upon arrival at the scene about 40km from the city centre, the firemen had to use special tools to rescue the trapped victim.

The injured driver and passenger of the 4WD vehicle were later taken to Miri Hospital in Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.

According to sources, the vehicle had veered off the road upon reaching the area before it overturned.
