KUCHING: Two units of hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) will arrive in Kuching early next year, says Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.
According to Lee, he said the final version from China will arrive in early next year and it will arrive in batches.
“The final version will be coming in batches and will arrive here by early next year. We’ll start with the two units first, followed by another two units and the rest,” he told a press conference after delivering his ministerial winding up speech during the DUN sitting here today.
Previously, the state government has ordered 38 units of ART vehicles to transform the state’s public transportation system.
The 38 units of ART vehicles will be manufactured and shipped from China in stages to align with the construction of the ART infrastructure and the overall system’s completion time.
He said the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) will be served with 55 hydrogen feeder buses, which will serve as the first-mile and last-mile connectivity within a 3km radius of each station.
