KUCHING: Two people were injured in a road accident involving a car and a tour bus at Mile 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian, early today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said an emergency call was received at 4:30 am, and a team from the Siburan station was dispatched to the scene, located about 18 kilometres away.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that a 28-year-old male and 32-year-old female was injured, and that the car driver had managed to exit the vehicle before their arrival, while the passenger was trapped in the front seat.
Firefighters used special rescue equipment to extricate the passenger who was later handed over to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team and taken to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.
Preliminary investigations found that the car had collided into the rear of a tour bus, which was not carrying any passengers at the time.
