Two injured in Miri late-night crash

MIRI:  A man and a woman in their 20s were injured after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a four-wheel drive at a traffic light junction in Jalan Pujut 7 here late Wednesday night (Sept 17).

The victims, aged 29 and 24, were in a Perodua Axia when the crash occurred at about 11.50 pm. 

Both sustained injuries and were assisted out of the vehicle by police, the Civil Defence Force (APM) and medical personnel before firefighters reached the scene.

The victims were later taken to hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed.

The driver of the four-wheel drive was not at the location when authorities arrived. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operation centre, 11 personnel from Lopeng fire station were deployed to the scene with a Scania fire engine and an EMRS vehicle. 

The operation  ended at 12.14 am.
