TATAU: Two local men sustained injuries after their car skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine near Rumah Sulang, Jalan Tatau-Sibu yesterday (Jun 3).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Tatau station were dispatched to the scene, about 12km away, following an emergency call at 6.25 pm.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that a Proton Wira had veered off the road and landed a three-metre deep ravine while heading towards Tatau from Sibu.
One of the victims was already rescued by members of the public and handed over to Tatau paramedics at the scene.
Firefighters later conducted extrication works to free the second victim, who was trapped in the back seat of the vehicle, before handing him over to paramedics for initial treatment.
Both victims, aged 32 and 36, were later taken to the hospital for further medical care.
The extent of their injuries are not known.
The Bomba team ended the operation at 6.54 pm.
