Two injured in three-vehicle chaos

PADAWAN: Two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle collision near Pulapol Kuching along Jalan Puncak Borneo early Sunday morning.

The accident, which occurred around 6:32 am, involved a Perodua Bezza, a Honda Jazz, and a Proton Ertiga.

The 24-year-old Bezza driver sustained arm and leg injuries after he was pinned to the vehicle’s clutch pedal and had to be extricated by firefighters.

The Jazz driver, 26, also suffered leg injuries, whereas the driver of the Proton Ertiga escaped without injuries.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, about 24 kilometres away, following an emergency call.

Both injured drivers received initial treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation ended at 7:27 am

Meanwhile, in a separate accident in Kapit, a driver was injured after his Proton X50 skidded and plunged into a 10-metre-deep ravine along Jalan Melekun on Saturday.

Firefighters from Kapit station were deployed to the scene near SK Lepong Baleh, following a distress call received at 5:01 pm.

The team extricated the victim from his vehicle and brought him up to safety for medical assessment before he was sent to the hospital.

The extent of his injuries and identity was not known.
