Two jailed, caned for violating drug rehab supervision orders

SIBU: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced two men to imprisonment and caning for failing to comply with their drug rehabilitation supervision orders.

According to the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Sibu, both pleaded guilty before different magistrates under the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

The first individual, aged 27, was handed a six-month jail term and one stroke of the cane under Section 6(2)(d) of the same Act.

He pleaded guilty before Magistrate Romario Jonoi.

Meanwhile, the second individual, aged 47, received a one-year jail term and one stroke of the cane under Section 6(2)(e) of the same Act.

He entered his guilty plea before Magistrate Onn Kork Chern.

The case was prosecuted by Sarawak AADK’s Prosecuting Officer, Iskanda Ismail, while both men were unrepresented by counsel.
