KUCHING: Two people were killed while two others were injured in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Puncak Borneo near Kampung Keru early today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call regarding the accident at about 5.40 am.

The crash involved three vehicles, a Proton Iswara, a Proton Exora and a Perodua Myvi, with four adults at the scene.

Bomba said an adult man trapped inside the Perodua Myvi was confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) medical personnel. Another victim, an adult woman from the Proton Exora, was also pronounced dead at the location.

An adult woman who was trapped in the Perodua Myvi was extricated by firefighters and was found to be injured. She was subsequently transported to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Proton Iswara, an adult, managed to exit his vehicle on his own before rescuers arrived.

He sustained injuries, including a wound to the mouth and a suspected leg fracture, and was taken to Sarawak General Hospital by KKM ambulance personnel.

Bomba said rescue operations at the scene were completed at 8.44 am after all victims had been handed over to the relevant authorities and medical teams.
