KOTA SAMARAHAN: A father and his daughter were left homeless after their home was largely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Asajaya Laut last night (Dec 21).
The 8.10 pm blaze gutted the single-storey house along with two parked cars.
Fortunately, the occupants, identified as a 65-year-old man and his 18-year-old daughter, managed to get out safely and did not sustain any injuries.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Asajaya and Kota Samarahan stations were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found that the house was about 80 per cent destroyed and immediately carried out the extinguishing deed using water sourced from a storm drain.
The fire was brought under control at 9.25 pm, and overhaul works followed suit to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished and no further hazards were present.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 10.17 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
