MERADONG: Two longhouses in Meradong have successfully completed parking facility upgrades under the People-Friendly Project (PMR), bringing improved convenience and safety to rural residents.
The completed works were verified in a recent site inspection at Rumah Lampong Seruji, Batu 4 Jalan KJD Meradong (10 doors), and Rumah Badi Rebeng, Sungai Lemayong, Meradong (six doors) here.
According to Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, the project reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting rural communities through basic infrastructure development.
“As the people’s representative, I am committed to ensuring every village and longhouse in this area receives the benefits of holistic development.
“This project is proof of the government’s concern for grassroots needs. I will continue to push for more initiatives like this to enhance the living standards of our rural population,” he said in a statement.
The project aims to improve essential facilities and promote the well-being of longhouse residents, aligning with the government’s vision of inclusive and high-impact rural development.
Huang also emphasised that rural development should not be treated as a secondary option but as a national priority.
“Even small-scale projects have a significant impact on daily life, particularly in terms of safety, comfort and cleanliness,” he said.
