MIRI: Two local men, aged 26 and 30, were arrested during “Mega Lusuh Bersepadu” — an integrated police operation here yesterday (Feb 25).
Led by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri), the arrests took place at approximately 4.30 pm by the roadside near a shopping mall along Jalan Agama, off Jalan Lutong-Kuala Baram.
A police team, led by an officer from the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Miri, was conducting the operation alongside personnel from the Lutong Police Station’s Crime Prevention Patrol (RCJ).
Upon arrival at the location, the officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked by the roadside. A search of the car’s boot uncovered coiled cables believed to belong to a Sesco substation.
Both suspects were taken into custody under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which pertains to theft offences.
The operation was also supported by Sarawak Energy and Telekom Malaysia.
