MIRI : Police in Miri have arrested two men suspected of involvement in drug trafficking following a raid in the Tudan area on Thursday morning (March 5).
The arrests were made at about 11.30 am during the operations carried out by officers from the Crime Prevention Branch of Miri Central Police Station at Jalan Perdana Tudan Phase 6.
During a search of the premises, officers discovered a purple bottle labelled ‘Mentos Rape Flavour’ which contained 30 small transparent plastic packets filled with crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.
Police estimated the total weight of the suspected drugs at around five grammes, with a street value of approximately RM550.
Both suspects were taken to Miri Central Police Station (CPS) for further investigation.
Preliminary checks also revealed that one of the men has previous records linked to drug offences.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a prison sentence of between two and five years upon conviction, along with a mandatory whipping of between three and nine strokes.
Police said enforcement efforts against drug abuse and trafficking in the Miri district will continue to be intensified.
Authorities have urged members of the public to cooperate by sharing information that could help curb drug-related activities in the community.
