MIRI: Police here have detained two local men suspected of being involved in a recent housebreaking incident in the district.
The suspects, aged 31 and 35, were picked up on Monday (Nov 3) following a targeted police operation.
The operation, led by ASP Goldy Jangan, Officer-in-Charge of Miri Police Station, involved a team from the Criminal Prevention and Neighbourhood Safety Unit.
It was carried out at 1.30 pm at an abandoned property along Jalan Permaisuri, where both suspects were found hiding.
Several items believed to have been stolen during the burglary were also recovered at the scene.
Both men are currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up as investigations continue under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
Police have advised the public to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity directly to the authorities, stressing that public cooperation is vital in curbing housebreaking and related crimes in Miri.
