SIBURAN: Two men were killed after being trapped under a 10-tonne lorry while repairing its brakes at a quarry road in Mambong here this afternoon (Jan 15).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.02 pm, involving a lorry laden with stones along Jalan Mambong.
Upon arrival at the scene at 2.28 pm, firefighters from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Siburan) found both victims trapped beneath the heavy vehicle.
The victims were identified as Laga Tegong, 46, and Sady Joe Liam, 26. Both were confirmed dead at the scene.
Bomba added that the incident occurred while the two men were carrying out brake repair works on the lorry at a quarry road area when the vehicle collapsed onto them.

Rescue operations involved lifting the side of the lorry using two excavators belonging to the quarry company.
The first victim was successfully extricated at 4.55 pm, followed by the second at 5.04 pm.
Both bodies were subsequently handed over to the police for further action.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
