SARIKEI: Two local men were killed while a woman sustained serious injuries in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Sare this morning (Nov 3).
The tragic accident, which occurred at around 9.35am, involved two motorcycles ridden by the victims and a Hyundai Atos, whose driver reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
Paramedics confirmed that the riders, identified as Nyaring Achang, 43, and Louis Asey, 58, died at the scene from their injuries.
A 58-year-old woman, who was riding pillion on one of the motorcycles, sustained severe injuries and received initial treatment before being rushed to Sarikei Hospital for further care.
Firefighters from Sarikei station were promptly dispatched to the scene following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team assisted in moving the victims to a safe area before handing them over to the police and paramedics.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation concluded and the team returned to their station.
Police are investigating the accident to determine the cause of the collision and to trace the driver who fled.
