BAU: Two local men were arrested during a narcotics operation carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division in Bau town on Friday afternoon.

District police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the operation, held around 1:00 pm under Ops Tapis, led to the arrest of a 28-year-old Bidayuh man found in possession of three transparent plastic packets.

Each contains white crystalline substances believed to be dangerous drugs, with a total gross weight of 9.84 grammes.

“In a separate location, a second Bidayuh man, aged 27, was arrested for possessing a single packet of similar white crystalline substance weighing 0.27 grammes,” Daram said in a statement issued on Friday.

He added that the total amount of drugs seized weighed 10.06 grammes, with an estimated street value of RM1,000.

“The 28-year-old is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the 27-year-old is being probed under Section 12(2) of the same act,” he said.

He added that both suspects also tested positive for drugs during initial urine screening and are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“A remand application will be made to facilitate further investigation,” he said.

He also stressed that the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division will continue to monitor and carry out operations in areas suspected of drug-related activities.
