MUKAH: Two local men were arrested by police along Jalan Mukah-Selangau on suspicion of drug possession and abuse.

The suspects, aged 17 and 21, were detained around 3.30 pm yesterday by a team from its Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.

Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah) said both suspects were inspected, and each was found to be in possession of a piece of transparent straw containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine, also known as syabu.

“The total weight of the seized drugs was 0.61 grammes, with an estimated street value of RM100,” it said in a statement.

IPD Mukah added that urine tests conducted on both suspects came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

The suspects, who work as a shop assistant and a labourer, have been remanded and are currently held at the Mukah Police Station lock-up for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
