KUCHING: Sarawak police have detained two men in separate investigations related to the misuse of digital platforms.
The arrests were made in Bintulu and Miri districts following reports received earlier this year in April and November.
The suspects were found to have accessed and stored child pornography on their mobile devices.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata stated that the cases are being investigated under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which prohibits the possession and distribution of unlawful materials.
The police have reminded the public that engaging in such activities constitutes a serious offence under the law. Those found guilty could face imprisonment of up to five years, fines of up to RM10,000, or both.
Members of the public are encouraged to report similar incidents to the authorities to assist in ensuring community safety.
