SARATOK: Two local men have confessed to stealing electrical wiring equipment belonging to Sacofa to fund their drug supply, after they were arrested in Taman Seroja Indah on Tuesday.

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the suspects, aged 29 and 25, were picked up around 8:00 pm on the same day following a police report lodged by a Sacofa staff member at 3:00 pm.

The report stated that RM19,350 worth of equipment had gone missing from a company cabin located about 500 metres from the Ulu Krian junction.

The stolen items included a 2500-watt Euro X generator, a 15-step silver ladder, two inverters, and two ODU connectors.

According to the complainant, the equipment had been left in the cabin due to the volume of tools needed for ongoing electrical work.

“Investigations revealed the suspects broke the padlock on the cabin gate to gain entry and exited through the same route.

“Both of them also admitted to planning to sell the stolen items to buy drugs,” he said.

Urine tests later confirmed they were positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years, a fine, and whipping for repeat offenders.
