BAU: Two men were arrested after testing positive for drugs following a routine spot check in Serikin on Wednesday (Feb 11).

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspects, both aged 40, were detained after a standard inspection conducted by personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) together with officers from the district police headquarters (IPD).

Both men were later brought to the NCID office at the IPD, where urine screening tests carried out at about 3pm returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

“They were subsequently detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

One of the suspects, a lorry driver from Kampung Serikin, has a prior record under the same provision, while the other suspect, a general worker from Melaka, has no previous criminal record.

Initial statements from both suspects revealed that they last consumed syabu three days prior to their arrest.

Both men are currently being held at the Bau police lock-up for further investigation.
