MIRI: Two men were arrested and over 39,000 litres of subsidised diesel seized following a raid by the General Operations Force (GOF) under ‘Op Taring Bravo’.
On June 25, the GOF 12th Battalion’s Intelligence Branch raided a premise in the city at 12.45 pm, following suspicions that it is being used as an illegal fuel storage facility.
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said two men, aged 32 and 45, were arrested at the scene to assist in investigation.
“Further checks led to the seizure of 39,300 litres of diesel and three fuel storage tanks around the premises. A tanker was also confiscated.

“All of the goods are valued at RM486,065, according to market price,” he said.
Che Ghazali added that suspects and seizures were handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Miri branch for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 20 (1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
From Jan 1 to June 30, the Sarawak GOF Brigade recorded enforcement success worth RM290.3 million, involving 236 cases, 355 arrests and the seizure of 193 vehicles.
