BAU: Two passengers were killed while a driver was seriously injured following a fatal two-vehicle collision along Jalan Serikin here this morning.

The accident, involving a Perodua Kancil and a three-tonne lorry, happened at around 10.00 am near the junction to Kampung Stass.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bau station were dispatched to the scene, about 12 kilometres away, following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they found all three occupants of the Kancil trapped inside, and immediately commenced rescue operations using special equipment.

The driver was the first to be extricated and rushed to Bau Hospital for further medical treatment.

The other two victims, a 32-year-old man in the front passenger seat and an unidentified man in the rear, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Their bodies were later sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old lorry driver escaped with only minor injuries.

Once the area was cleared and deemed safe for other road users, the team wrapped up the operations at 11.40 am.
