KUCHING: Wawasan Open University (WOU) and FAME International College have signed a deal to widen postgraduate study access in Sarawak.
WOU’s Chief Commercial Officer, Justin Chong, and FAME International College’s Chief Executive Officer, David Chew, signed the agreement at FAME International College here on Friday.
Under the collaboration, FAME International College will support student recruitment efforts and provide academic support services in Kuching for selected WOU postgraduate programmes.
According to their joint statement, the programmes are the Master in Business Administration and Master in Data Science.
“Both postgraduate programmes are delivered online by WOU academics with extensive teaching and professional experience, supported by its e-learning platform.
“This allows learners to pursue postgraduate qualifications without disrupting their employment or business commitments,” it said.
Commenting on the matter, Chong said the collaboration aligns with WOU’s mission to make higher education more accessible and flexible for working adults.
“Our shared goal in this collaboration is clear – to enhance professional upskilling opportunities and create structured, achievable pathways for career advancement within the expanding workforces of both Sarawak and Sabah.
“I believe this initiative is a proactive step towards supporting Sarawak’s continued economic and digital evolution and, by extension, East Malaysia’s digital transformation efforts,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chew reiterated the partnership would create meaningful progression opportunities for students and working professionals.
“This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing clear academic pathways and equipping learners with industry-relevant knowledge and skills.
“By working with WOU, we are expanding opportunities for Sarawakians to pursue recognised postgraduate qualifications without having to leave the state and their jobs,” he added.
