Two pythons captured within hours

SARIKEI: The Civil Defence Force (APM) here had a busy snake catching operation with two pythons captured at separate locations on yesterday (July 4).

The first case happened around 6.30pm and the second case happened around 11.45pm.

APM Sarikei district officer Lt Shahrol Azizi Zaidi said the first case involved an eight-foot-long python at a government quarters along Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan.

“A team was deployed to the scene and found the reptile inside a room at the quarters.

“The team swiftly captured the python with a snake tong before releasing it into its original habitat,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second case involved a one-foot-long python at a house along Jalan Abdul Rahman.

Shahrol added that the complainant had caught a glimpse of the python in the kitchen of his house and quickly requested for assistance.

A team was deployed to the scene and managed to capture the reptile in the kitchen.

The python was later released into its original habitat, away from the residential areas.
