SIBU: Malaysia’s Health Ministry will be renting two shop lots to reduce congestion at the Oya Road Polyclinic.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health Dato’ Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya after making a visit to Sibu Hospital yesterday.

He said the Oya Road Polyclinic now receives 800 to 1,000 patients daily.

“The two shop lots located behind the polyclinic will be for further treatment centres for diabetics and high blood pressure patients as well as other patients,” he told reporters after a visit to Sibu Hospital yesterday.

He hoped his side would get local government’s cooperation to facilitate conversion of the shop lots’ status to clinic status.

Meanwhile, the deputy minister also praised the people of Sibu for the close cooperation with the ministry by helping to build a clinic building to house the 1 Malaysia Clinic.

As a result, six out of 10 of the 1Malaysia Clinics (K1M) in Sibu were built in collaboration with local companies as well as alleviating the cost of building rented by the government to place K1M.

Among those present were State’s Health Director Dr Jamilah Hashim and Sibu Hospital director Dr Ngian Hie Ung.
