Two seriously injured after Axia crashes into parked rubbish lorry

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A driver and his passenger sustained severe injuries following a two-vehicle collision along the Kuching Outer Ring Road early this morning (Jul 22).

The accident, which occurred at around 1.25 am, involved a Perodua Axia and a stationary rubbish lorry, which was parked by the roadside.

Both victims, aged 18 and 26, were trapped in their seats following the impact while the lorry driver escaped unharmed.

Firefighters from Kota Samarahan station were dispatched to the scene, about 11km away, after receiving a distress call at 1.28 am.

The rescue team used rescue tools to extricate the injured victims and handed them over to paramedics for immediate treatment before they were taken to hospital.

Firefighters also carried out safety checks to prevent any risk of ignition before concluding the operation at 2.45 am.
