KUCHING: The remand order for two men suspected of involvement in a murder case at an apartment in Sungai Tapang has been extended for another five days, from today until Jan 1, 2026.

According to a report by TVS, the extension was allowed by Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali to facilitate further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The two suspects were previously remanded for seven days from Dec 21 to today (Dec 27) after being arrested at about 11.06 pm on Dec 20 in the MJC Batu Kawa area.

They were brought to the Magistrate’s Court at about 9 am today for the remand extension application and were seen arriving in handcuffs.

Under Section 302 of the Penal Code, a conviction carries the death penalty, or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years with not less than 12 strokes of the cane.

Based on earlier reports, the victim, a 22-year-old local man, was found lying in a bedroom of the apartment unit with slash wounds to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far, 16 individuals have been detained to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
