Two teenagers among four nabbed during ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’

Four locals were arrested and 22 summonses issued by traffic police during ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ in Sibu.

SIBU: Four locals, including two teenaged boys, were arrested by traffic police during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ on Saturday.

According to Sibu Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the operation was conducted from 10.30 pm until 4 am around the town centre and Jalan Ramli Amit here.

“The teenagers, aged 15 and 17, along with a 22-year-old man, were detained on suspicion of committing offences under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Also arrested was a 20-year-old man for committing an offence under Section 186 of the Penal Code, for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties,” he said in a statement today.

Zulkipli added that during the operation, a total of 20 men were inspected, and 22 summonses were issued.

“The recorded offences include expired vehicle licences, illegal modifications to vehicle structures and exhausts, as well as the absence of side mirrors,” he said.

Additionally, four motorcycles were seized for documentation purposes.

“The police urge the public to comply with road laws.

“Parents are also advised to monitor and be aware of their children’s activities to prevent them from getting involved in unlawful activities,” he stressed.
