FRANKFURT, Germany: Two workers died after they fell from a height inside a wind turbine in western Germany, German Press Agency (dpa) reported, citing police on Wednesday.
Police said the two 32-year-old men were in a work basket that fell from the upper part of a wind turbine in Birstein, northeast of Frankfurt, on Wednesday morning.
It was initially unclear why the work basket fell.
Other workers heard the incident and called an ambulance, but rescue services were unable to save the two men.
They are believed to have been killed instantly.
An expert is now to reconstruct the exact chain of events and the reason for the accident at the under-construction wind farm.
Police investigations are under way, and emergency services and the fire brigade were also on site. – BERNAMA-dpa
