Two young men arrested in oil palm plantation drug bust

SARATOK: Two young local men, aged 22 and 23, were arrested in an anti-drug operation by the district police task force at Ladang Sawit SALCRA Pagan here on Thursday (March 5).

Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrests were made at about 2.30 pm following information from the public about suspected drug activity at the plantation area.

Acting on the tip-off, a Task Force ‘Ops Tapis’ team went to the location and detained the two suspects by the roadside.

Both suspects were taken to the Saratok police station for urine screening tests.

“The results showed both individuals tested positive for amphetamine and mthamphetamine,” he said.

Further checks found that the 23-year-old suspect had two previous narcotics offences, while the 22-year-old suspect had one prior drug-related record.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
