KUCHING: Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended the Affin Group Market Outlook & Chinese New Year Celebration 2026 held at the Sheraton Hotel on Thursday.
They were welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who represented the Premier, accompanied by his wife, Datuk Doreen Mayang, upon their arrival.
Also present to receive them were Affin Bank Bhd’s Chairman, Datuk Agil Natt, and his wife, Datin Sharifah Fatimah Alhabshi, as well as Affin Bank Bhd’s Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah.
Also in attendance were Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; and Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts who is also Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The programme featured multi-ethnic cultural performances and a market outlook presentation by Affin Group’s economist, in line with the event’s objective of strengthening strategic ties between the financial sector, state leadership and stakeholders.
During the dinner, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah took part in the symbolic ‘Yee Sang’ tossing ceremony together with other distinguished guests, symbolising unity, prosperity, wellbeing and good fortune for the new year.
Furthermore, in the Premier’s speech delivered by Uggah, he said that Wan Junaidi and Fauziah remain close to the people.
“Tun and Toh Puan have always remained close to the people, and this spirit is reflected through their presence at celebrations such as this Chinese New Year dinner,” he said.
The speech also highlighted the TYT’s warmth, humility and willingness to engage with people of different religious and cultural backgrounds.
“Tun’s warmth, humility and genuine willingness to engage with people from every religious and cultural background reflect strong leadership rooted in compassion, respect, and inclusiveness,” he said.
