KUCHING: The iconic Mukah Kaul Festival is an important cultural heritage of the Melanau community, serving as a key symbol of Sarawak’s identity and fostering unity and harmony among its diverse population.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar expressed hope that the festival would continue to be celebrated with great enthusiasm and be elevated as one of Sarawak’s key cultural events.

He also encouraged efforts to attract younger generations to appreciate and preserve traditional heritage while positioning the festival as a tourism product that showcases the uniqueness of Sarawak on a broader stage.

The Governor shared this sentiment during a courtesy call from the Kaul Mukah 2025 Main Committee delegation at Kasuma Resort today (Mar 10).

The delegation was led by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, who also chairs the committee.

During the visit, the delegation extended an official invitation to Wan Junaidi and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi to attend the ‘Majlis Keman Kaul Mukah 2025’, scheduled for April 27 at Tapak Kala Dana, Mukah.

The festival is set to take place from April 19 to 27 at Kala Dana Beach, Mukah.

It aims to preserve cultural traditions while promoting unity among the local community and surrounding areas.

Highlights of the event include the ‘Serahang Parade’, ‘Tibou Competition’, cultural and craft exhibitions, and traditional performances.

During the visit, the delegation also sought Wan Junaidi’s insights and guidance on advancing Mukah’s cultural, educational, and economic development.
