KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi have extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who perished in Tuesday’s tragic road accident.

The incident, which occurred at around 8.50 am on May 13, involved a collision between an FRU truck carrying the personnel and a lorry.

In a message posted on his official Facebook page, Wan Junaidi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the crash.

“We are profoundly saddened by this heartbreaking tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. May they be granted strength and patience in this time of grief,” he wrote.

He also commended the rescue teams and emergency responders for their swift and courageous efforts at the crash site.

“We express our deepest appreciation to the rescue teams and authorities for their prompt and dedicated action in managing the situation. Their service is both heroic and commendable,” he added.

Wan Junaidi stressed the importance of prioritising safety for all members of the nation’s security forces, urging relevant authorities to conduct thorough investigations and implement necessary measures to prevent future tragedies.

“It is crucial that all task forces give top priority to safety, and that comprehensive reviews and improvements are made to avoid such incidents from recurring,” he said.

He ended his message with a prayer for the departed.

“Al-Fatihah to those who have left us. May their souls be placed among the righteous and the martyrs.”
