The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, along with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by the Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, and her husband, Datuk Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah, today.

The distinguished couple was warmly welcomed by Fatimah, Adi and their family members at their residence on Jalan Sultan Tengah.

Accompanying them were the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Regional Development Agencies Coordination, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who served as the accompanying minister, and his wife.

A presentation was held during the open house, where Fauziah handed over a camera to a recipient, Nor Karmira Benny Karmilan, a single mother without a fixed income who is unable to work full-time as she cares for her children, including a son with disabilities.

According to an initial assessment by the Social Development Council under KPWK, Nor Karmira faces financial constraints as she supports five school-going children, including one child with disabilities requiring intensive care.

Her income from part-time photography work is irregular, and despite receiving monthly assistance, it remains insufficient to meet living expenses and the family’s special needs.

She previously studied Photography Technology at GIATMARA Kuching, where she was among the outstanding students.

As part of intervention efforts, the ministry has supported her through the ‘Low Income Family Empowerment’ (LIFE) programme by providing equipment to help her generate a more sustainable income through photography.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah spent over an hour at the residence before departing to visit the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and the Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, at his residence on Jalan Astana.
