KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, attended the “Forum Remaja MADANI Piala Pusingan Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di-Pertua Sarawak 2025”, held at Balai Budaya, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Sarawak today.

The prestigious annual forum saw the participation of five finalist teams, with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Luke from Sri Aman emerging as the overall champion. The school will go on to represent Sarawak at the national level.

The award presentation ceremony also included a special segment recognising SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab (SHOAW), Kuching, as the winner of the Video Montage Competition held in conjunction with the forum.

Among the dignitaries present were the Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn; DBP Director-General, Dr Hazami Jahari; Sarawak State Education Director, Omar Mahli; and DBP Sarawak Branch Director, Dr Azizul Ismail.

Wan Junaidi praised the forum as a timely and meaningful platform to develop the talents of young Malaysians.

“This competition provides a space to nurture critical thinking, communication skills, and leadership among our youth.

“It also promotes the use of standard Malay language, helping to shape students who are confident, articulate, and grounded in national values,” he said.

He expressed confidence that SMK St Luke would represent Sarawak with excellence at the national level and serve as an inspiration to other students.

The ceremony also featured a special poetry recital titled “Pohon Gemilang (Untukmu Sarawak)” performed by Mohamad Faizal Jamil, adding a patriotic and artistic touch to the event.

Wan Junaidi reaffirmed his support for programmes such as the “Forum Remaja MADANI”, which he said play a vital role in shaping the future generation into knowledgeable, civic-minded, and principled citizens.
