KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graced the wedding reception of Lilian Binjan Nanta Linggi and Jaret Jimbau Chabu at the Grand Ballroom, Imperial Hotel on Wednesday (Apr 8) evening.
Their arrival was warmly received by the bride’s parents Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and his wife Datuk Angelina Celestine Ujang, as well as the groom’s mother Datuk Dr Lulie Melling, together with family members and invited guests.
Among those present were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who was accompanied by his daughter Dayang Norjihan; Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof and his wife Datin Amar Ruziah Mohd Tahir; Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and their spouses; Dewan Negara President Senator Datuk Awang Bemee Ali Awang Basah and spouse; and Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Tun Jugah, grandfather of the bride.
The culturally rich ceremony began with the couple’s entrance into the main hall, followed by a video presentation of their engagement and wedding journey.
A symbolic pua kumbu draping ceremony performed by the bride’s grandmother, along with cultural performances by the Sarawak Cultural Foundation, added a traditional touch to the celebration.
In his appreciation speech, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang and uncle of the bride, expressed the family’s heartfelt gratitude for the presence of Wan Junaidi and wife, describing it as a meaningful honour and a cherished memory for the couple and their families.
Alexander and his wife in their speech, expressed their gratitude for the smooth and meaningful occasion, further enlivened by the presence of Wan Junaidi and wife.
At the same time, Wan Junaidi and wife also extended their congratulations to the newlyweds and both families, and expressed hopes that the union would be blessed with lasting happiness, prosperity and enduring harmony.
