TYT, Premier join thousands for Aidiladha prayers at Masjid Jamek

KUCHING: The Masjid Jamek here this morning saw 5,000 Muslim congregants gathered to perform the Aidiladha prayers in celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Among the attendees were the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The prayers were led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

Earlier, Abang Johari arrived at the mosque at around 7.40 am, followed by the arrival of Wan Junaidi at 7.50am.

Following the prayers, the Head of State and Premier attended the Aidiladha Thanksgiving Ceremony organised by the Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) at the Hikmah Hall, Petra Jaya.

During the ceremony, Wan Junaidi and Abang Johari also observed the ‘ibadah korban’ (Islamic ritual sacrifice).

They later also joined in to cut the sacrificial meat, which was later distributed to 100 recipients from the needy group in Kuching Division.
