KUCHING: Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here today.

The delegation was led by JAKIM Director-General, Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, who presented an official invitation to Wan Junaidi and Fauziah to grace the 21st Convocation Ceremony of the Malaysian Islamic Skills Institute (IKMAS), scheduled to be held on August 26.

Also present were Sarawak Islamic Council President, Datuk Misnu Taha, JAKIM Deputy Director-General (Operations), Kolonel Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail; JAIS Director, Mual Suaud; JAKIM Sarawak Director, Hamdan Jar’ee; IKMAS Director, Zaizurina Mansor; JAKIM Islamic Affairs officer, Dr Hasfa Bakhry Hassan, and several IKMAS officials.

During the meeting, Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation for JAKIM’s continuous efforts and commitment to strengthening Islamic education, particularly in Sarawak.

He welcomed the department’s pivotal role in empowering religious studies and institutional development across the state.

In addition, he stressed the need for a paradigm shift in the delivery of training programmes, calling for more diverse and relevant courses aligned with current societal needs.

Wan Junaidi noted that such an approach is crucial in equipping students with holistic skill sets that not only benefit individuals but also contribute meaningfully to community development.
