KUCHING: Police retirees are invaluable community assets whose experience and service have long underpinned Sarawak’s stability and security

Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said their service and sacrifices – particularly during the era of the communist insurgency – form an important foundation for the prosperity and harmony enjoyed by the state today.

In stating this, Wan Junaidi, who was at one time a senior police officer, recorded his highest appreciation and gratitude to all retired colleagues.

“I pray that all police retirees are always blessed with good health and continued well-being,” he said in a statement after attending a dinner with the members of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association (RESPA) of Sarawak at the Sarawak Club here on Tuesday.

Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, were warmly welcomed on arrival by former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd Jamil Johari, and his wife, Puan Sri Zahrah Seruji.

Also accompanying Wan Junaidi were his daughters, Sharifah Fariah and Sharifah Nong-Jasima with her husband, Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop, as well as Tasnim.

The dinner not only reunited retired senior Sarawak police officers but also provided a relaxed space for Wan Junaidi and his friends to reminisce on the many bittersweet memories they shared throughout their service with the police.

In his welcoming remarks, Jamil expressed, on behalf of all colleagues, their honour for being able to interact more closely with Wan Junaidi at the event.

He and fellow retirees also conveyed their pride and appreciation for Wan Junaidi who, as a comrade who once served alongside them in the police force, is now the Governor of Sarawak.
